Here’s the promised Canberra entry. It's super super long so don't start unless you have more than 10 mins to read...:)
We had a really awesome weekend. Why, you ask?
Well, it all started when Rach and I met after work on Friday and set off on a journey in my old car. (It lasted….seriously!!!!)
For the first hour- the traffic was a nightmare!!!! But when we actually started driving, it was pretty cool although at regular intervals, I kept saying to Rach “I’ll pull over, you can drive next” but we ended up going the whole way with me in the driver’s seat. It was the furthest I’ve ever driven. YAY me!!!
On the way, it was really weird cause heaps of cars/trucks were high-beaming me and Rach. We had no idea what we did to them but we reached three possible conclusions. It’s very possible that they did that cause I was a P-Plater (they’re generally hated), we had the light on in the car and I was kinda driving in a scary way! I was talking to Rach and the car would move to the next lane by accident and I’d have to move it back in my own lane but that happened less times than the high-beaming so, maybe it could’ve been a combination. I don’t know.
Rach and I had some really weird conversations on the way down. We talked about stupid things like the whats, whys, wheres, hows, whos and whens of toilet going. We talked about public toilets, how it’s a great relief when you’ve been holding for a while then you get to go and…it’s one of the world’s greatest feelings.
Anyhow, we arrived in ACT (Aust. Capital Territory) at 8:27pm! I was pretty triumphant about that because Rach claimed that we wouldn’t arrive there before 8:30pm! But after I pointed out that- Rach would come up with this flimsy excuse- “But I thought we’d finish work at 5 instead of 4!!!”. BAHAHAHA!
We were busting to go to the toilet and had been for ages and the toilet conversations we had in the car sooo didn’t help. We went in frantic search of our lodgings, getting a little lost due to closed roads. A laughing fit or two were brought on by silly comments. (i.e- While driving through North Canberra, at a total loss as to where we were…I thought aloud “We must still be in North America”..I have no idea why I said that!!!!
When we arrived, we finally got out of the car after four hours sitting in the car. When the first breeze got to us, we yelped at the freezing weather. We almost ran to reception and were encountered with this chick that totally had no idea. She looked at us blankly and just nodded blankly the whole time. Grrrr, that was annoying but we did get to check in. When she told us where the bathroom was, we made a beeline for it without a second thought for our poor bags freezing in the car..Truth was given to the theory that going to the bathroom is one of the greatest feelings in the world especially after you’ve been holding for a long period of time.
We braved the weather again to bring our bags in. We weren’t the quietest girls when we entered the room. We discovered another chickie in there sleeping..(yes, at 9pm!!!!) She awoke to find us giggling on the ground at nothing in particular.
We showered and dressed, and then rushed to the bus stop in the hideous weather. (Yes, I realize I keep commenting on the weather but seriously- it was horrible) The bus driver was terribly rude to us, we didn’t get a good first impression of canberrans, I’m telling ya. We got to talking to this chick on the bus who told us about going deaf one morning when she woke up. She expressed her grief about not being able to hear her grandson and how she was ‘coping’ with being ‘deaf’. She works as a kitchen-hand, with the strong belief that jobs aren’t available for deaf people. She was nice though.
We arrived in the city after about 15 mins on the bus. We met up with Justin and Stuart and then we went to the Casino. Justin told us to take note of the bigness of the sign. (Truly, it wasn’t that big but…meh!) On entering the casino- we noted that it was just the one room and it wasn’t a very big room. Why does a small casino or ‘gaming room’ have such a misleading sign? Not for me to answer!!
It was here when/where Justin and Stuart totally wasted their money. They mightn’t have ‘put much’ on but still, a waste of money!!! Haha!!! After we left, we walked for a bit and headed to this…. Bar/pub, whatever it was. I forget the name of it and Justin did too. MEH!! I msged him asking but he couldn’t remember. We sat around chatting and one of the things we talked about was how much each of us had changed. In Stu’s opinion, Rach only has changed a little, Justin- not at all and me- I’m apparently more nicer!! YAY! (We used to be a group of friends years ago..but all that changed) It was like a little reunion. It was nice catching up with them. It was amazing how we misunderstood/understood each other.
We headed to this place called Shooters. We chatted a bit there. Rach and I were perving and watching other people make idiots out of themselves. Justin and Stu ended up leaving but Rach and I wanted to stay and have fun. That’s why we went down to Canberra- to have fun?? (Don’t worry, we did.. a LOT!), the bar closed at 2:30am. Rach and I were…..shocked to say the least! In Sydney, they close way later… we finished our drinks and got some pizza outside and got a taxi back to our lodgings. We noticed a bar open and we headed straight there.. It was called “Holy Grail”…God, that was a cool place… We had this strange guy who we called ‘the peace guy’…He was talking to me, forgetting I was deaf after every single time I told him. He tried to talk in my ear and I’d be like ‘I’m deaf’…Then he’d go like ‘ohhh yeah, that’s right’ then would try again…and when we left, he said “PEACE’ giving us the 2 finger sign. Was really weird. While walking to our table, I bumped into this dude…and he was all ‘sorry, sorry’ and was trying to kiss me…EEEK! (he was very expressive with his feelings…seemed gay too..but was cool…when he left- he kissed rach and I goodbye!) We basically stayed there til bout 4:15am talking to a few people and basically laughing.
There was this one dude who was sporting a full-on erection…. He was dancing with two chicks that seemed to enjoy rubbing up on him. It was really funny…. We also saw a 3-way lovebite thing going on… Saw a lot of weird things that morning. We stumbled back to our accommodation around 4:30am and went to sleep!!!
Saturday- after a mere couple hours of sleep- we woke up to have breakfast. It was FREE! After eating few pieces of toast- Rach and I headed right back to bed and slept til past noon.. We woke up again and showered and then headed to the city…
We wandered around, having no destination in mind. We looked into shops and just chilled out….we ended up in a café..a pretty funky one with cute dudes…(workers)..but it was pretty much empty..only 3 other café-goers… The city was DEADDDDDDD!!!! Almost no people.. Will add a pic on here..when I do the whole picture adding thing….
We got back at whatever time, I don’t really remember those little details anymore. I wrote Friday a lot closer to the time than I wrote this… (today’s Thursday the 26th)..The Saturday was on the 14th of August. 12 whole days ago..Argh! But I still have to update for my devoted readers…Smooches for yous…
We had pizza for dinner…yes, again. Choices were limited! We also got some booze on the way home from the city…and we started drinking right away….(as soon as we got back to the room) I had 8 glasses of wine and 2 bacardi breezers by 7 30pm…Rach had a few too…We were already tipsy by the time we left the accommodation.. We decided to go to this place called Durham Arms and go on to the other places when we were done…but errm, we kinda ended up staying there a while…We had a few cocktails…we proceeded to get very very very drunk….hahahaha, it was hilarious…we were on friendly terms with a lot of people there by the time we stumbled out… I wanted to go back to the accommodation but Rach wanted to go to this other place…I was halfway there when I realized I was alone…..From that moment- I have no memory until the next morning except from the fact I took my jumperishy-top…(a top but kinda like a jumper?) off before falling asleep…. (I HAD A SINGLET ON UNDERNEATH!)
I’m gonna make my Sunday summary a lot shorter than all the other days cause people are waiting for me to blog…Rach and I took a long route home- the scenic route…We left Canberra just before 10 and we went through the southern highlands… we got back to Rach’s around 6 30pm at night…
There weren’t any big incidents… we stopped at a Scottish shop..with shortbread and crest of arms…for Scottish families and so on….in bowral..or something…
Ohhhh, one thing did happen..I was driving home in the middle lane…I caught sight of petrol! Something my car desired… and it was cheap!!!... I told rach bout it and she goes ‘why not’ so I braked really really fast and swerved…kinda forgetting the fact that there was another lane before I could get in the petrol station..my tyres were smoking!…I didn’t swerve early enough to get in..so I was kinda in both lanes…cars were coming (it was a highway) and I reversed- (cars had to wait for me, lol)… and get in the petrol station…Everyone parked there was gawking at me and when I went to pay for petrol- the attendant asked me ‘what was that all bout’…I responded with ‘I wanted petrol”… and he was all like ‘impressive driving!!!!’…hahaha Rach didn’t see the funny side of it til later…but it was hilarious…dangerous but funny J
I don’t think I explained it right… Peoples that see me face to face- get me to explain it to next time I see ya…
That’s all from me for now..
I’ll update soon about the conference and amanda’s party….not today tho, I have work to do..
Luv yas..
